International Ex Libris and Short story competition “Il Bosco Stregato” - "Sleeping Beauty in the Wood"

Introduction
The
world of fables has always had an allegorical, satirical, and at
times educational value, as regards both the written and oral tradition,
and Ex Libris. Once again we wish to focus on this
fairy-tale world in proposing the 2008 edition of the competition
entitled «Il Bosco Stregato» (The Enchanted Wood). Certain
innovations have been made with respect to the past, in
particular the introduction of a category for previously published
Ex Libris.
Competition rules
Art. 1 - Solstizio d’Estate Onlus is organizing
the International Competition, «Il Bosco Stregato».
Art. 2 - The Competition is open to everyone.
Art. 3 - Entries can be in one of three categories:
a) Unpublished Ex Libris on the theme: “Sleeping
Beauty in the Wood”
b) Published Ex Libris on the theme: “Food
and wine”
c) Unpublished short stories in Italian on the
theme: “Sleeping Beauty in the Wood”
a) Unpublished Ex Libris - “Sleeping Beauty in the Wood”
Art. 4 - The Ex Libris must be dedicated to Solstizio d’Estate. Every artist may enter a maximum of two works. Three signed copies of each Ex Libris are to be sent, and the first name, last name and address of the artist, the technique and the year of execution are to appear on the back of each work. Attach a brief biographical profile, address and e-mail address.
Art. 5 - Acceptable techniques are: wood-engraving,
copper-engraving, lithography, silk-screen printing, computer graphics.
The works may be no larger than 14x10 cm The paper may be no larger
than 18x24 cm.
Art. 6 - The works which are adjudged to be the
best shall be awarded the following prizes: 1st: €
800,00
2nd: € 700,00
3rd: € 600,00
4th: € 500,00
Art. 7 - The winners of the prizes shall be required
to have 50 copies of the work printed.
b) Published Ex Libris - “Food and wine”
Art. 8 - Each artist may enter a maximum of 5 works on the theme “Food and wine”. Any technique is accepted, except drawings and photocopies. One signed copy of each Ex Libris must be sent, and the first name, last name and address of the artist, the technique, the year of execution and the title are to appear on the back of each work. Attach a brief biographical profile, address and e-mail address.
Art. 9 - The works which are adjudged to be the
best shall be awarded the following prizes:
1st: € 400,00
2nd: € 300,00
3rd: € 250,00
Art. 10 - The winners of the prizes are required to provide 25 Ex Libris, which may also be works published previously.
Art. 11 - The works will remain the property of Solstizio d’Estate Onlus, and will not be returned.
Art. 12 - The members of the Jury shall be: Cristiano Beccaletto, Adriano Benzi, Nicola Carlone, Mauro Mainardi, Giuseppe Mirabella, Nicola Ottria, Heinrich Scheffer, Gian Carlo Torre, Tommaso Lo Russo (secretary). Their decision will be final.
c) Unpublished short stories - “Sleeping Beauty in the Wood”
Art. 13 - The short stories must not exceed 5 pages for a total of 8,000 characters, and must be sent on a data storage medium (Floppy Disk or CD-ROM, in MS Word format) and in hard copy. Attach: first name, last name and address of the author, a brief curriculum vitae and an e-mail address.
Art. 14 - The works which are adjudged to be
the best shall be awarded the following prizes:
1st: € 250,00
2nd: € 200,00
3rd: € 150,00
Art. 15 - The Jury’s decision will be final. The works sent will not be returned.
Art. 16 - The works (Ex Libris and Short Stories)
must be received by 30 March 2008 at the address:

Art. 17 - A catalog or DVD will be printed and sent to each participating artist on request at their expense.
Art. 18 - Participation in this Competition implies full acceptance of these regulations.
Art. 19 - The date and place of the awards ceremony and the inauguration of the exhibition are to be announced.
