International ex libris competition
Remo Palmirani Prize “The Canticle of Canticles”

The Soncino Pro Loco Association, with the collaboration Town hall administration and A.I.E. ( Ex Libris Italian Association ), announces the Ex Libris International Competition “Palmirani Prize” about a biblical theme: “The Canticle of Canticles”. The competition is due to the initiative of a group of Remo Palmirani’s friends who, after his death, want to remember his human qualities, the seriousness of a refined scholar and promoter of a lot of exhibitions, the full and matchless production of publications devoted to the Ex Libris.
REGULATIONS
1 - The enrolment to the competition is free and the participation, too, for the artists of the whole world
2 - Each participant has to enclose a form with
the following data, necessary for the printing of the catalogue:
· surname, name, year and place of birth, address for the
sending of communications
· a short biography with a personal curriculum about studies,
artistic and didactic information (max 150 words)
3 - Only the works of art created with the techniques of the original traditional art graphics (chalcography, xylography, lithography) can be admitted
4 - The ex libris have to:
· develop the biblical theme of the competition “The
Canticle of Canticles”
· have a maximum dimension of paper mm 250x175, with free
dimension of printing
· not to present indication of other competitions and have,
obligatorily, the writing “Palmirani Prize, Ex Libris Soncino
2006”
· show, in pencil, surname, name and address of the artist,
year of execution of the work of art, dimension of the engraved
part, the technique used
5 - Each artist can participate with a maximum of five works of art, each of them with, at least, four signed exemplars, that will be part of the collection of graphic art of the promoters
6 - The Soncino Pro Loco proposes three
prizes, according to the classification:
· 1st prize: Euro 1500,00
· 2nd prize: Euro 1000,00
· 3rd prize: Euro 500,00
To the winner of the first prize it will be required a number of
40 pieces of the work of art that will be used for the institutional
purposes of the promoter
7 - The works of art accepted by a special jury will be valued for the insertion in the catalogue and for the exposure at the Soncino Rocca in the autumn of 2006. During the day of the exhibition opening, the winners will be proclaimed and rewarded
8 - The jury will be constituted by the President of Soncino Pro Loco, the President of the Ex Libris Italian Association ( A.I.E. ), two artists who teach engraving techniques in Italian academies, one manager of the Soncino Printhouse
9 - The Ex Libris will have to be given by hand
or sent with a registered letter by 12.00 on 15th June 2006

10 - The participation to the competition requires the acceptance of the present regulations.
Together with the Ex Libris exhibition of the competition, it will be organized a multithematic exhibition by Remo Palmirani’s friends to remember him.
