Gliwice 2005 - VI International Graphic Competition for Ex Libris

by GN

We just got the catalogue of the VI International Graphic Competition for Ex Libris, held in Gliwice (Poland) during this 2005.

According to Wladislaw Gebczyk, Competition Commissioner, who also took care of the catalogue editing and signed its foreword, «the Gliwice Municipal Library has been holding the Competition for ten years and the event has become the permanent item on the cultural agenda of the City of Gliwice, being the artistic event of international importance». Witness to this the «growing number of the contestants from many countries of five continents and the number of submitted works».

Again, according to the foreword, «the Gliwice Competition has become the review of current trends and directions of the ex libris art in the world».

To the Competition took part 542 artists from 47 different countries. They submitted a total of 2060 works.
