International Ex Libris Competition
Invitation to the Competition
Invitation to the Competition - About Tipoteca Italiana - Rules of the International ex libris competition
(from the press release)
Dear Artist,
We would like to cordially invite you to participate in the International
Ex Libris Competition about Movable Type and Typography in appreciation
of the great prestige that you have acquired in the art of ex libris.
Please do not hesitate to contact us with any questions that you may have. Please find attached the regulations that govern this competition. We have meditated over the evaluation and granting of prizes and, unlike other rules and regulations, we will not publish a list of placements which is often satisfying for the winner but not for those who follow.
There are prizes of equal importance for the xylography and chalcography techniques for an artist from Italy, Europe and a non-European country. Within each of the above geographical regions there will also be a prize, an ‘Ex Libris Master Diploma’, in an effort to emphasise the international nature or our initiative.
The subject of your ex libris can be any image that refers to the history and the prestige owed to the invention of printing, seen as a primary instrument in the dissemination of culture. Certainly Gutenberg is the most famous personality in this respect, but in every nation there were other pioneers in printing and in type design, who deserve to be remembered and doing so will be considered favourably by the Jury.
You are requested to attach an explanatory text of your work and on the subject eventually portrayed.
Please find our contacts in the final part of the rules and regulations.
Looking forward to your participation.
Best wishes,
Silvio Antiga
president
