Competition rules: 6th International Graphic Competition for Ex libris Gliwice 2005

With the patronage of the mayor of the City of Gliwice, Zygmunt Frankiewicz.

Municipal Public Library in Gliwice, the Organizer of the 6th International Graphic Competition for Ex libris Gliwice 2005, will be honoured to invite your to take part in the Competition held to present the latest achievements in the art of ex libris.

I. CONDITIONS OF PARTICIPATION:
This will be an open Competition.
Each Competition participant will be allowed to send an unrestricted number of projects executed in any selected graphic technique (including the offset and computer graphics) used for the purpose of ex libirs design.
Maximum work dimensions will not exceed 14 x 14 cm.
We will kindly request that you send only your new works, i.e. made only during the period between 2002 and 2005.
The deadline for sending in your projects will be the 15th of May 2005

Each project submitted for the Competition shall be delivered in three (3) signed author copies.
Artists taking part in our Competition for the first time will be requested to submit their projects, also those designed and executed before the year 2002.
All projects submitted for the Competition will become the property of the Competition Organizer and will be retained in the ex libiris collection held by Gliwice Municipal Public Library.
Since we are obliged to prepare the Competition catalogue, we will ask you to quote the following information on the back of each copy: Name and surname of the author, name of the technique used and the year of creation.
Please, enclose also a short biographical note of the author.
The competition organizer will not accept any responsibility for any loss or damage of the works suffered during transport by the Post.

II. PRIZES:
All submitted projects will be evaluated by the Jury appointed by the Competition Organizer. The Jury will also select the projects to be displayed at the Post-competition Exhibition.
The best projects will be awarded with the following prizes:

1st Prize – PLN 3.500
2nd Prize – PLN 2.500
3rd Prize – PLN 1.500

and will be distinguished with the Competition Medals and Diplomas.

Additionally, the Organizer plans to award a Prize for the best ex libris dedicated specifically to the Municipal Public Library in Gliwice and for the best ex libirs dedicated to the Museum in Gliwice, as well as many other special awards.
The Jury may decide to divide and grant the set prizes in another way. The Jury’s decision will be final.

III. FINAL RESOLUTIONS:
The Competition results will be announced and the prizes will be handed to the winners on the 30th of September 2005 in Gliwice, pl.Inwalidów Wojennych 3.
All awarded projects and the projects selected by the Jury will be presented at the Post-Competition Exhibition held in September- December 2005.
All authors of the projects selected for the Post-Competition Exhibition will receive the Exhibition Catalogue.
The organizer will reserve the right to publish the projects free of charge, for the promotion purposes in Poland and abroad.
Your participation in the Competition will be regarded as your acceptance of the terms and conditions of these Rules.
