China-Guangzhou 2010 – the 1st International Exlibris and Mini-prints Biennale Exhibition

Invitation Letter

Dear Friends,

The Exhibitions of 32nd International Exlibris Biennale in Beijing, China in 2008 and other exhibitions in 2009 have achieved great success. They have drawn a lot of artists’ attention and gainned profound influence. In order to publicize and popularize art of excellent exlibris and Mini-prints all over the world, enhance academic exchanges and promote collections of prints, Chinese Artists Association Exlibris Research has decided to hold “China•Guangzhou 2010 the 1st International Exlibris and Mini-prints Biennale Exhibition” in Dec.2010. We hope the exhibition will invite more excellent artists from different countries all over the world, showing more excellent exlibris and Mini-prints. We strongly believe that with your support and participation, the exhibition will be more integrated.

Guangzhou is not only a famous cultural city with a history of 2200 years but also an opening city. It’s endowed with pleasant climate and natural environment and has long been known as the Flower City. What’s more the 16th Summer Asian Games will be held in Guangzhou in Nov.2010. Guangzhou will become more and more beautiful at that time. We can’t be more greatful to welcome artists and collectors from all over the world.

Rules and Information of Art Works for the Exhibition:

1. Range of Participants:
It’s an open exhibition.Participants range from artists all over the world to tearchers and students in Academies of Fine Arts.

2. Category of Works:
Art works will be divided into two groups (exlibris and Mini-prints). They will be evaluated and elected separately. Participants can send both kinds of works or either.

3. Terms and conditions of participation:

a) All the techniques are admitted, including traditional technique and computer design. The work should be more than one copy. Other techniques, such as photographs, hand drawings, paper-cuts and reprints are not available. Works should not be framed and please use the Acid-free paper.
b) No limitation on the theme of the works. New works are better, but excellent works, which have been shown on other exhibitions, are also welcomed.
c) Three copies of each work are required, and each artist should submit from three to five different exlibris; three copies of each mini-print are required, and each artist should submit from one to two different Mini-prints. Participants can send more works to the exhibition.
4) For exlibris,the word “EXLIBRIS” (or its substitute) shall be marked. What’s more, the first name and surname of the owner or name of institution should included.In case of initials or abbreviations, please provide their full versions on the exlibris reverse. All kinds of languages are available.
5) Size:
Exlibris: Side length of the works should not exceed 15cm; minimum length of white edges around the work is 1.5cm.
Mini-prints: Side length of the works should not exceed 30cm; minimum length of white edges around the work is 3cm.
6) Please indicate the series number of works, the author’s first name and surname, year of creation and so on according to the international standard. The author’s name, technique, e-mail, total number of prints, full address, post code and telephone number should be clearly marked on the back of each exlibris in pencil. Please provide the full name if there is any abbreviation.

4. Deadline and the works submission
The works shall be submitted before 10 July 2010 to the following address:

– Postscript: China-Guangzhou 2010 the 1st International Exlibris and Mini-prints Biennale Exhibition”.
– The works received after the designated deadline will not be available for the Exhibition.
– Please use hard package to pack your works and mail in a safe way.
– The organizer will not be responsible for any loss or damage of the works caused during transport.

5. Prizes
a) The Jury meeting will be held on July 2010. The works will be evaluated by the Jury appointed by the Organizer. Prizes are following:
“the most excellent exlibris” 3 exlibris per group, winners will get the Certificate of Honor and Y5,000.
“the most excellent Mini-prints” 3 Mini-prints per group, winners will get the Certificate of Honor and Y5,000.
“excellent exlibris” several, winners will get the Certificate of Honor.
“excellent mini-prints” several, winners will get the Certificate of Honor.
Selected authors will get the Certificate of Selection.

b) Artists qualified for the exhibition will receive the exhibition catalogue.

6. Final Stiplilations:
Period of Exhibition: Dec. 18th, 2010 to Dec. 28th, 2010
Opening Ceremony: 9:00 a.m, Dec.18th, 2010

7. Attachments
a) All the participants should fill the participating form (attachment2), attached with personal The picture. Form can be downloaded from the organizer’s website: http://www.exlibrischina.com.

b) All works submitted shall become the property of the Organizer. The Organizer reserves the right to publish the works free of charge for the purposes of promotion and presentation on exhibitions in China and abroad. Entering the exhibition shall mean the acceptance of the present regulation.

Fee of the Visiting Activity:
1. Each artist must be responsible for your trip expenses.
2. Meeting Fee: Y500 (Welcome Dinner, lunch on Opening ceremony, Farewell Dinner, Trip Tickets, Fare and Trip Lunch)
3.Lodging: Y200 to Y388 per standard Suite (Double) every day (including breakfast), according to the current price.
4. If participants need desk (with chair) to show works when exchanging, please pay Y100 per desk (with chair).
